Paul J. Backes, C.P.A. Paul is originally from Minot, North Dakota and graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of North Dakota in 1989. Paul joined McMahan and Associates, L.L.C. in 1992 and enjoys working with a variety of clients throughout Colorado.
Paul has been actively involved in the Colorado accounting community working with the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants ("COCPA"), Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals ("HFTP"), Community Associations Institute ("CAI"), Colorado Government Finance Officers Association ("CGFOA"), as well as many other professional organizations. He has chaired the COCPA’s Governmental Accounting and Issues Committee, TABOR Amendment Subcommittee, and Continuing Professional Education Committee. He has also served as an adjunct professor for Colorado Mountain College.
Paul lives in Edwards, Colorado and enjoys skiing and biking.

Mike received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree in 1988 from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He spent four years with Ernst & Young’s Toronto offices, performing audits, tax, consulting and other services for a wide variety of enterprises. Mike then joined Dynacare, Inc., a medical laboratory company with operations in Canada and the U.S., working on corporate tax planning and compliance, financial analysis, acquisitions, and as Controller. He joined McMahan and Associates in 1996.
Through McMahan and Associates, Mike provides professional services to a diverse clientele: non-profit organizations, homeowner associations, governmental entities, and for-profit enterprises.
Life in the Colorado mountains provides Mike with abundant opportunities to pursue his interests, which include fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking and skiing.
Mike holds designations as both a Chartered Accountant (Canada) and a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Yadira grew up in the Vail Valley and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of New Mexico in 2012. She joined McMahan and Associates in 2013 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 2015 as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner in 2017. Yadira is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She works with a variety of non-profit, homeowner organizations, governmental, and for-profit clients.

After graduation, Nick joined McMahan and Associates in 2005 and lived in Edwards, Colorado until 2019. Nick holds a Certified Public Accountant designation, and he is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She received her Master’s in Accounting from the University of Colorado, Denver, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Dan’s clients include Colorado cities and towns, special districts, condominium associations, and not-for-profit organizations. Dan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Dan and his wife, Sue, live in Eagle, Colorado. Dan’s hobbies include skiing, snowboarding, biking, and mountaineering.
